Roles & Access

ChessMint uses roles to decide what each person can see and do in the club workspace. This page gives a plain overview so admins can assign the right role to each person.

The Four Roles

Role Best for
Player Club members. See club activity, your own registrations and games, and manage your own profile.
Arbiter People who run tournaments. Prepare and operate the tournaments they are assigned to.
Treasurer People who handle money. Follow up fees and dues, record payments, and pull financial reports.
Admin People who manage the club. Full access to setup, members, tournaments, payments, and settings.

Roles add up. A person can hold more than one role, and their access is the sum of all of them. Someone with no role is treated as a player. When in doubt, give the smallest role that lets the person do their job.

Notes

  • Tournament reports & printed cards — standings reports, scorecards, and tablecards are produced by admins and treasurers. Arbiters run the rounds; the printable reports sit with the admin and treasurer roles.
  • Your own content — every member can keep their own private links as personal bookmarks. Admins add the shared, public links the whole club sees. See Links.
  • Membership visibility — the members directory becomes visible to a player once they are an active member of the current season.
  • Public vs private — some items can be shared with the club or kept private. Where that choice exists, it is shown when you create or edit the item.

Assigning Roles

Roles are set per person from the member record. Give a new operator the role that matches their responsibility, and add a second role only when their work grows. For tournament work, remember two things must line up: the person needs the arbiter (or admin) role, and an arbiter should also be assigned to the specific tournaments they will run.
